Industrial Power Controller

Solid State Power Controllers (SSPCs) combine the features of a switch and circuit breaker or fuse into one component. SSPCs protect wiring, power sources and products from electrical overstress due to overloads and short circuits. SSPCs may be controlled remotely by a microcontroller. During an overload condition, the SSPC quickly shuts off the circuit and remains off until a reset command is received. SSPCs may also contain other features to accommodate high in-rush currents, provide fault and output status, and report the load current, temperature or other information.

 
SSPCs are used throughout the commercial, industrial and aerospace market and provide an integrated solution to simplify power distribution system designs.

 

Micropac Announces IPC01 Family of Industrial Power Controllers

 The IPC01-DC family is designed for DC voltage applications up to 400V and current applications up to 10A, while the IPC01-AC family is designed for AC voltage applications up to 280VAC and current applications up to 10A.  Both device families combine the functionality of a circuit breaker and switch into one single industry standard “hockey puck” package.  The output is controlled by a TTL/CMOS compatible enable signal.  The devices perform the circuit breaker function by utilizing both instant trip and an I2T over current overload protection.  Once “tripped”, the device remains in the off state until the enable signal is cycled.  A TTL/CMOS compatible status signal provides notification of an overload condition for monitor by a centralized controller.  An optional protective cover provides protection from high voltage contacts for personnel and equipment.  These are UL508 and CSA C22.2 NO. 14-10, E354703 devices.
